FOUNDERS - John & Samantha Graham
Samantha and John began their lives together while working as Cast Members at Walt Disney World. In 2004, Samantha, who was born with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, was in the process of finishing her college degree in Kentucky. The previous semester, she had worked as an intern for the Disney College Program but never officially met John. Originally from Charleston South Carolina, John had been a Disney Cast Member since 2001.
In May of 2004, Samantha came down to Florida to work a few days “seasonally” at Disney. While working, Samantha wanted to go out with her co-workers after work but didn’t have a ride. A friend suggested that she ask “John.” That night, without question, John placed Samantha’s wheelchair in his car and they met up with their friends. Over the next few days, John and Samantha actually fell in love! Not once did John ask Samantha what was “wrong with her” or why she used a wheelchair. It simply did not matter.
At the end of the week, as Samantha was getting ready to catch a flight back to Kentucky, they both decided that they didn’t want to lose one another and that the obvious choice was to become engaged to be married!
Thirteen months later, Samantha graduated from the University Of Louisville with a Bachelors in Political Science, moved to Florida and married the love of her life at their Disney Fairy Tale Wedding!
Throughout their marriage, John and Samantha have been inseparable. No matter how many surgeries and hospitalizations Samantha goes through, their love is unwavering.
Both Samantha and John became interested in Activity Based Therapy (ABT) in 2017 after spinal cord surgery paralyzed Samantha’s left leg. Samantha turned to CORE (Center Of Recovery & Exercise) for help and during her sessions both Samantha and John became extremely interested in how they could help others with neurological conditions discover adaptive fitness.
In the summer of 2018, John and Samantha followed their hearts and decided to open a nonprofit organization in Clermont introducing adaptive fitness to disabled adults within the community living with Spinal Cord Injuries and other neurological conditions.
